Isaac Newton wrote three laws of motion that express observations about the fundamental way that our universe works.
1st Law: An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in straight line motion at constant speed unless acted on by a net external force.
2nd Law: The net external force exerted on an object is equal to the mass of the object times the acceleration of the object. Fnet = ma
3rd Law: If object A exerts a force on object B then object B exerts an equal and oppositely directed force on object A. Often stated as for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
